When you hear contemporary Gospel music today, you are traveling a road paved by one of the most successful Gospel groups in history, The Rance Allen Group; a trio of three brothers whose first concerts was block parties in their native Monroe, Michigan over 30 years ago.

Rance Allen and his brothers, Thomas and Steve, are three of a dozen children from a church-active family that nearly filled the small Goodwill Church of God In Christ (COGIC) the family attended. Both grandparents were pastors and their Mother played piano and guitar.

Like a collection of hit R&B singles, The Rance Allen Group's music is easy and fun to listen to. It's soulful Gospel R&B (that's “rhythm & bible”) but with state-of-the-art sound and modern instrumentation. It gives mature audiences what they've been looking for--music reminiscent of the best of the glory days of Stax, Motown and Philadelphia-International. New audiences and young people have found them, too. They like the Group and what they do because they're turned on to their classic sound that never lets you down. Then they get turned on to the Lord.

SOULFOOD is what musical chef; Shirley Murdock has been cooking up in her recording studio of a kitchen lately. She has made an undeniable imprint on the Quiet Storm R&B radio format over the last twenty years with signature hits such as the gold-selling “As We Lay,” “Go On Without You” and “Husband.” She's also a woman, who has survived a whole lot of heartache, pain and pressure to conform to how the public and the music industry perceives her ministry. Through it all, she's traded her tears for laughter, and in her own words, “I've gotten beauty for ashes.”

Her sophomore gospel recording, “Soul Food,” is a multi-format CD that is meant to touch the hearts and souls of every Shirley Murdock fan, whether they love her as the woman behind “As We Lay” or the woman who sang on Bishop T.D, Jakes' Sacred Love Songs. “The whole cd is meant to encourage you,” she says with ebullient joy. “It's like a buffet of great messages, inspiration and praise and worship. If you just go and get you a plate, you'll have a full course meal of everything you need.”

Bishop Leonard Scott

Father, pastor, community advocate, humanitarian, songwriter, dentist, educator, singer, musician, entrepreneur, host of a medical radio talk show, TV and radio preacher, and Bishop; these describe some of the talents and assignments of Bishop Leonard S. Scott. Jeremiah 1:4 says, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee.” God has greatly anointed Bishop Scott in the area of music. As a child, he had a strong passion and an ear for music. This gift helped him learn to play various instruments, including the lead guitar, the flute, the saxophone, and the bass guitar. Bishop Scott attended Indiana State University. While studying dentistry, he sang in a rock band called the Soul Messengers. Although the name of his band was Soul Messengers, Bishop Scott realized that there was a void in his own soul. He was searching for something to fill that void, and he finally found it.
