Cast Spotlight: Kim Fields

kimfields2Kim Fields is probably one of the best examples of a child star who transitioned successfully into adulthood.

She became a household name playing the lovable “Tootie” on the hit show Fact of Life from 1979 – 1988.
After starring in another fan favorite hit, Living Single, Fields went on to show the world her other burgeoning talents.

In addition to acting, Kim is a singer, Spoken Word artist, and an arward-winning Director. In recent years, she’s received much accolades for her directing talents on TV shows, films, documentaries, and music specials including:
All That!
Keenan & Kel
Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns
BET’s Let’s Stay Together
Discovering Monk and ‘Trane: One Night @ Carnegie Hall

Fields has also Executive Produced a number of well received projects including: Holiday Love (TV One) and ‘Watcha Cookin’ which aired on Black Network Television.

Earlier this year, she took time out of her busy schedule to lend her talents to this incredible film Switching Lanes. In the movie, Fields plays Christine, a hard-nosed reporter who’s main aim is to make it to the big time.

Kim has had the fortune of being able to merge her faith and her career and this film is another example. Switching Lanes takes a look at racial reconciliation from a faith-based perspective. When asked what attracted her to this role, Kim said:
“I do whatever Shannon Nash tells me to do” she jokingly said. “Being a part of an uplifting, inspiring story in the face of so much yuck is so important”.

Kim went on to say that she was compelled by the strong message of the power of faith that is weaved throughout the film. She hopes that audiences will grab ahold of that message and be encouraged by it.
” [Switching Lanes is] a gentle reminder through entertainment that faith can work wonders,” said Fields, “we have the power to change how we interact with each other…you can start in your own community like the girls (from the movie) did and make a difference”.

As for what’s next for the multi-gifted star, Fields has a few very exciting new developments in her life. She’s recently given birth to her second child and is prepping for the premiere of any installment in her Holiday Love series. Fans can catch her upcoming film, Holiday Love: The Rebirth on a TV screen near you.
